    Easterfield Medal—Royal Society of Chemistry

    The Easterfield award takes the form of a medal was donated by the Royal Society of Chemistry in honour of the late Sir Thomas Hill Easterfield who was well known for his contribution in the field of chemistry. Sir Thomas was the first chairman of the New Zealand section of the Royal Institute of Chemistry and also one of the early Presidents of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (NZIC). The award is given to a chemist in New Zealand who have no more than 12 years of full-time equivalent professional experience since completing their most recent relevant qualification.

    The highest honour of the NZIC is awarded to members who have given meritorious service to the Institute or to science or to the profession of chemistry. Promotion of a Member to Fellow normally requires a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as a member, and the candidate must have shown a substantial measure of ability or achievement in chemistry.

    Technical Service Award recognises timely, competent, and continuous service in an exemplary manner to a Stakeholder Panel (SP), Expert Review Panel (ERP), Working Group Community, Committee, and/or the Official Methods Board (OMB). Given outstanding expert guidance and support in all technical aspects of either safety, statistical, technical matters, or process expertise. Assists AOAC in the decision-making process to make the organization a leader in the field of analytical science.
